Membership Fees

CentreStage is free to young people with EHCPs thanks to Children in Need support.

Beginners £80/ Other groups £100 per term. There are no additional production or project fees.

Reductions: 10% if paying for 3 terms at once. 10% sibling reductions for additional memberships within the same family. (Reductions can't be used together).

A limited number of free and discounted places are available to members who are Deaf, disabled, Young Carers, Child Looked After, Care Leavers or have a household income of less than £25k. To apply for membership support contact sarah@primetheatre.co.uk or 01793 614864

Physical Workshops

Workshops are held in Prime’s theatre studio at the Wyvern Theatre, Swindon, SN1 1QN. Our professionally led, fun-filled workshops include all levels of drama exercises and theatre training. Members make friends, build creative confidence and develop performance skills. Groups are mixed in age to best develop skills, confidence and creative ability. Beginners and emerging artists are welcome. Ages are for guidance only.

CentreStage: (Guidance 11-16yrs)

A safe and supportive group for young people with an EHCP for moderate additional needs.

Beginners: (Guidance 8-10yrs)

For those with little or no experience of drama. Creative games, role play and physical storytelling, nurture imagination, develop communication skills and builds confidence.

Act 1: (Guidance 11-13yrs)

For those with some experience of drama. A variety of texts and creative challenges develop essential theatre making skills alongside self-expression and group performance.

Act 2: (Guidance 13-16yrs)

Focused training for young actors building their vocal and physical skills. Solo experiences and group activities develop individual characterisation and ensemble performance techniques.

Act 3: (Guidance 14-18yrs)

For those with an increasing commitment to theatre-making. Members use their creative voice and strengths to explore a variety of sources and themes in a professional space.

13+ Specialist Workshops

Writers Pad: Have something to say? Want to write your own script? Friendly sessions to learn dramatic writing, develop techniques and find your own voice. Suitable for beginners and those with more experience.

Tech Crew: More interested in backstage than onstage? Want to find out more about lighting, sound, design and stage management? Opportunities to work on Prime Theatre productions.

Practitioners

In our safe and supportive environment, young people develop theatre techniques, learn how to express themselves, grow social skills & empower their creative voices. Prime staff are professional creatives who specialise in training young people. All staff have DBS checks & regular safeguarding training.

Eve Winters– Youth Theatre Director: Eve worked for 15 years as a professional actor, whilst developing her skills as a youth theatre practitioner. She is passionate about amplifying youth voice and has been supported by Arts Council England to develop her craft as a director and deviser with young actors.

Mark Powell – Artistic Director: Trained at Rose Bruford College of Theatre & Performance & Birmingham University. Mark is a director & writer with credits including Salisbury Playhouse, National Theatre, the egg & Birmingham Rep.

Sue Welsh – Freelance Practitioner: Sue is a qualified teacher and has years of experience supporting young people with SEND needs. She founded and ran Rubber Chicken Theatre Company, she regularly performs around the area as an actor and a clown.
